I'm thrilled to be a part of the Pinnacle Financial Fitness Team and truly excited to share my thoughts and experiences with you. Together, let’s start off 2017 on the right foot by focusing on what we GAIN this year… not just what we are trying to lose!
The top New Years resolution is always losing weight. Take a moment to consider how many times you’ve wished it but not GAINED the weight loss. This year, that changes!
Gaining a new you is always much more positive then losing a few pounds. If you're having trouble deciding what you might gain, here are a few ideas… muscle, confidence, healthier skin, energy, flexibility, and a positive outlook just to name a few.
Refocus with simple steps. Start with winning decisions from the inside out. You want a body that works like a well-oiled machine, consider the pieces that keep your body in forward motion.
1.) Water - drink more! It’s that simple. Half your body weight in ounces each day is a solid goal. I drink a gallon a day to keep fluid.
2.) Stay away from processed food - It’s not always easy but if you win five days out of seven, you are headed in the right direction.
3.) Cut out as much salt as possible. Find a different spice that lights your up your taste buds - think onion or garlic.
4.) Cut out as much sugar as possible. Go for a piece of fruit instead of that can of soda.
5.) Start moving. At least 30 minutes per day. The body is meant to be in action. Consider taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Park the car farther away from the building for added walking. Come to one of our company sponsored classes. Small changes add up!
Also, have a good awareness of your body. The inside changes the outside - not the other way around. Headaches, swollen fingers, joint pain, sluggish digestion these are all signs of internal inflammation that can get in the way of better energy, weight loss, and reaching our goals.
For example… If your rings and watch are tight in the morning, maybe even your ankles are just a bit swollen, chances are your sodium intake is too high. Or if you feel lethargic, maybe with a slight headache mid-day, and generally run down. Something as simple as water can counter all of these symptoms in hours. Less soda and coffee - more H2O.
Our bodies have a natural ebb and flow and most of the time we are the ones getting in the way of that rhythm. If weight loss and better energy are on your list this year then I'm behind you 100% but YOU must address the basic pieces first in order to achieve that wonderful side affect called weight loss. So, here’s to the GAIN in 2017!
